Digital cameras are being integrated into phones, computers, and many other different types of technologies. With social media websites being at an all time high, picture taking and picture sharing is at an all time high as well! Digital cameras are in a  revolution at the moment. The implications of this jump in technology are far ranging and hold alot of future expectations.

Some digital cameras have made some steady advancements!  Compact digital cameras are catching up technology wise; however the difference is still significant from an SLR camera. A lag time of .5  seconds can result in you missing the spectacular moment you wanted,  and hence that potential great picture. Compact digital cameras are a good choice for travelers when they know that they will want to take a photo every 15 or 20 minutes.

Digital SLRs on the other hand work quickly, just like a film camera, and are great for subjects and objects that move. A real SLR camera, like the inexpensive Nikon D50 , can do a lot more a lot faster than any fixed-lens camera, even if the fixed-lens camera costs twice as much and has a longer zoom range with its lens.  SLR cameras also give more clarity through the viewfinder meaning that you can see detail and colors more clearly to decide if you want to keep or junk the picture you just took.

DSLR cameras also offer much larger image sensors, which means that the quality of the picture is almost guaranteed to be better when compared to higher quality point and shoot cameras. Lastly, DSLR cameras can be upgraded with professional lenses, meaning that you can easily turn an ordinary DSLR camera into something more professional, which can’t be said for most point and shoot, and compact cameras.
